Museum Of Malik Gabdulin

The Malik Gabdullin Museum is a historical, cultural, and scientific-educational institution established with the aim of preserving, studying, and promoting the life and legacy of Malik Gabdullin - Hero of the Soviet Union, academician, prominent writer, and public figure. The museum was opened in accordance with Resolution No. 465 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 5, 1993, and the decree of the Akim of Kokshetau Region No. 1-391 dated September 4, 1995, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Hero’s birth.

The museum is located in the city of Kokshetau. Its first exhibition was formed on the basis of the writer’s personal archive, including documents, photographs, and items related to his military service and literary heritage. The museum's activities extend beyond its memorial function and encompass scientific, educational, and ethnopedagogical work.

In 2004, the original museum building, constructed over a century earlier, was deemed unsuitable for further use. As a result, the Akimat of Akmola Region decided to construct a new building. The grand opening of the new museum facility took place on August 19, 2005. The First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, visited the museum during his working trip to the region, paid tribute to the Hero’s memory, and laid flowers at his bust.

The new museum building was constructed in accordance with modern standards and is equipped with exhibition, display, and research halls. The museum’s exhibits comprehensively reflect Malik Gabdullin’s heroism during the Great Patriotic War, his literary achievements, academic contributions, and public service. On display are his personal belongings, awards, manuscripts, rare books, and photographs. In addition, the museum houses recollections from his fellow soldiers and contemporaries.

The core mission of the museum is to foster patriotic values among the younger generation through the exemplary figure of Malik Gabdullin, to promote the heroic legacy of ancestors, and to strengthen respect for the history of war and peaceful labor. To this end, the institution organizes excursions for school and university students, literary and historical lectures, patriotic events, exhibitions, and scholarly conferences.

Today, the Malik Gabdullin Museum stands as an important institution not only for the Akmola Region but also for Kazakhstan as a whole. It plays a significant role in military-patriotic education, cultural and educational initiatives, and the preservation of national historical memory.
