Horse Toy

Medieval settlement of Zhankent. Made of ceramic. The toy is crafted in the shape of a horse and represents a saddled horse. The manner of execution suggests that the object may have been made by a child.
In the medieval period, toys belonging to children from wealthy, middle, and lower social backgrounds differed in quality, size, and decorative detail. This particular toy was most likely handmade by a child from a low-income family.
Despite its small size, the object attracts the interest of visitors and residents of the settlement. The toy measures 10 cm in length and 7 cm in height. Material: ceramic. Manufacturing techniques include hand modeling, sculpting, and applique. The surface is coated with red-colored engobe.
