Buddha Sculpture

Zhambyl Regional Historical and Local Lore Museum

The sculpture depicts a Buddhist figure seated with crossed legs. The posture is upright, and the body proportions are rendered in a stylized manner. The right arm is bent at the elbow, raised forward, and formed into a fist-like gesture. This hand position may represent a specific mudra with religious and symbolic significance in Buddhist iconography. The left hand rests on the knee.
The head is adorned with a conical headdress, indicating the influence of regional artistic traditions. A circular necklace is depicted around the neck, serving both as a decorative element and as an object with religious-symbolic meaning.
The facial features are calm and composed, with the eyes cast downward. A greenish-yellow patina remains on the surface of the sculpture, confirming its antiquity and long-term preservation.
Material: bronze
Manufacturing technique: casting
Period: presumably the Middle Ages
Condition: satisfactory, natural patina visible on the surface.
