A tea chest

Mangistau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore named after A. Kekilbayev

A tea chest is a chest for storing tea accessories. It is made of wood, rectangular in shape, with a lid that opens upward. The exterior of the chest is covered with metal and adorned with decorative elements. The front part is divided into four rectangular sectors, each containing vertical plates made of bone. The central section is wide, with narrow strips on the edges. Bone plates are also installed on the sides. All the plates are secured with copper nails that are decorated with holes, indentations, and protruding metal inlays.

On the copper plate, there is a round hole for an internal lock (on the surface, as part of the lock). On the sides, there are copper round handles. The inner part of the chest is divided by plywood partitions into several rectangular sectors. In the lower right sector, there is a stand with holes for 6 cups. The tops of the partitions and the inner surface of the lid are upholstered in green fabric.
