Wooden Pillow

Zhambyl Regional Historical and Local Lore Museum

A wooden pillow designed to be placed under the head of a person lying on the ground to elevate it. Carved from red-brown wood (pine). The paint has faded. The top part is decorated with geometric and floral patterns in yellow and red. Both sides are made of wooden planks adorned with decorative carvings. The central part is flat to rest the head.

Compact and lightweight, it was widely used in nomadic life. Donated to the museum in 1968 by T. Seyilkhanov, resident of Chapaev state farm, Sverdlov district.
