Bronze Candlestick Base

Zhambyl Regional Historical and Local Lore Museum

The candlestick was used to hold a candle and provide illumination. Such items were mainly used in rituals but were also found in the everyday life of wealthy people, rather than in temples.
The item stands on a three-legged base, with a recess at the top to hold a candle. Its structure is stable and decorative. The leg is shaped like an animal paw. The top has an opening for the light source. The object is entirely covered with a green-brown patina, indicating its antiquity and that it is made of bronze.
