Sogdian-style Jug

This jug was made in the style of Sogdian culture and reflects the characteristic features of the artistic and applied arts of that period. The jug is made of clay and produced through shaping and firing techniques. It has a rounded body, a high neck, a spout designed for pouring liquids, and a handle. The spout and overall form resemble the image of a bird. This image is decorated with copper, giving the vessel special decorative significance.
The ornaments on the jug were handmade using an appliqué technique, creating relief decoration through plastic modeling. This method reflects stylistic features typical of Sogdian art.
The jug was discovered during archaeological excavations near the village of Zhalpak Tobe, Zhambyl District, Zhambyl Region.
