Bronze lamp

Zhambyl Regional Historical and Local Lore Museum

A lamp made of bronze. It stands on four legs; the upper part is shaped like a flat dish with a special holder for placing a wick. The object reflects a high level of metalworking craftsmanship of the medieval period.
The upper part of the bronze lamp is decorated with carved ornaments in floral or geometric styles. Such items were commonly used in religious rituals, in temples, or in the domestic life of wealthy individuals.
The lamp is oxidized; the cover of one wick is broken. It was accidentally found in the area of the Green Bazaar of Taraz and was transferred to the museum collection on June 16, 1964.
