The kobyz

Kobyz is a Kazakh national musical instrument. Carved from wood, its bottom tapering part is covered with skin. The front surface and the neck are inlaid with ornately designed bone plates. The motifs are zoomorphic, geometric, and engraved. The bridge for the strings is cut from bone.
