Amangeldy Memorial Museum named after A.Imanov

The A. Imanov Memorial Museum in Amangeldi is one of the key historical and cultural institutions of the Kostanay region, dedicated to the study and promotion of the life and struggle of a prominent historical figure-Amangeldi Imanov, leader of the national liberation movement and head of the Turgay Uprising of 1916.

The museum was officially established on December 9, 1969, by a decree of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR. Initially, it was housed in a small adobe building on Sovetskaya Street (now M. Dulatov Street). With the support of local residents, the district party committee, and executive authorities, the museum moved in 1976 to a new two-story building equipped with expanded exhibition and administrative infrastructure. On October 12, 2013, according to Decree No. 438 of the Akim of the Kostanay Region, the institution was granted a new status - “Communal State Institution ‘A. Imanov Memorial Museum.’

The founder and authorized governing body of the museum is the State Institution “Department of Culture of the Akimat of the Kostanay Region.” The museum operates in accordance with an approved development strategy, state cultural policy, and long-term plans defined by this body.

The museum building consists of two floors. The exhibition halls are divided into the following thematic sections:

Halls dedicated to the life and activities of Amangeldi Imanov: These exhibit materials highlighting his leadership role in the 1916 uprising, military strategies, and the broad public support he received;

The fourth hall is dedicated to the history of the Amangeldi district, covering its social, economic, and cultural development, as well as significant historical events.

In its early years, the museum's collection included 235 artifacts. Today, the number of items has grown to 5,808. All exhibits have undergone scientific evaluation and are recorded in a special inventory book. The core of the collection consists of historical documents and photographs, household and ethnographic items, weapons, books, and materials from the periodical press.
