Description

Country: China. Nelk fan mounted on ivory knitting needles. The side outer knitting needles are decorated with openwork carvings of floral patterns. The silk has satin stitch embroidery on both sides with flowering branches, birds and butterflies. The fan at the base is gathered into a silver earring with silk tassels. Date: late XIXth - early XXth century. Material: ivory, silk, paper, silver, mother-of rearl. Technique: corving, embroidery. Received: from the Directorate of Art Exhibitions and Panoramas in 1963.

Condition

The second spoke is broken. 2 knitting needles have come out of their sockets. The corner of the fabric at the top is peeled off. Tearing and puncture of fabric on the 6th and 7th fold. The mother-of-pearl washer is missing on the axle. The cord with the tassels is torn and tied in a knot.
