Museum in the city of Ayagoz
Ayagoz Branch of the Semey Regional Museum of History and Local Lore. Museum’s focus and profile. The museum displays ancient ethnographic items donated by local residents, as well as exhibits related to historical figures; historical materials about the Ayagoz region, including historical figures, brave warriors and biys, poets and writers, and labour heroes; information about the region’s flora and fauna; and information about the museum’s paleontological collection and archaeological sites (excavations) in the region.
The history of the creation of the Museum.
The museum was created in 1978 (at the history room of the District Department of Education).
The new museum building was opened in 2013.
The name of the halls and their descriptions.
The museum’s exhibition sections:
1 Hall. An exhibition section dedicated to the general history of the region, entitled “Ayagoz - the land of great personalities.” This section features materials about famous natives of the region, known throughout the country: famous warrors, biys and eloquent orators, witty and inspired poets.
2 Hall. The exhibition section “Honor to Victory” is dedicated to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, homefront workers, and veterans of the Afghan War.
3 Hall. The Ethnography
The hall displays items from the traditional life and culture of the Kazakh people: yurt equipment and furnishings, household items, jewelry, national clothing, horse equipment and ammunition, berkutchi’s hunter accessories, examples of bladed weapons and firearms, national musical instruments, and other exhibits.
4 Hall. The Natural history department
This hall displays materials on the region’s fauna and birdlife, medicinal plant species, archaeological finds, including petroglyphic stones (tamgaly stones) discovered in the region, as well as information on the natural environment of the Ayagoz region, and about topography, and climate.
The most valuable and unique exhibits of the museum collection that have historical significance.
1. One of the most treasured possessions of our museum is the chainmail armor of the renowned commander and zhyrau Aktamberdy Saryuly. The armor was donated to the museum by his eighth-generation descendant, World War II veteran Askap Zhumadilov. According to historical records, Aktamberdy died in 1768 at the age of 93. After his death, the armor was preserved by his descendants. Measured by modern standards, the armor weighs approximately 10 kilograms.
2. The Natural History Department of the Ayagoz Branch of the Semey Regional Museum of History and Local Lore displays archaeological finds by the renowned paleozoologist and native of the region, Bolat Uapula Baishashov. Ancient rhinoceros bones discovered in our region are exhibited in the Natural History Department of the Ayagoz Museum. These valuable exhibits undoubtedly contribute to science and represent an important discovery in the field of paleontological research in the Ayagoz region.
