Nura district historical and local history museum
The Nurinsky District Historical and Local History Museum was first established in 2006 as a local history sector within the centralized library system of the Department of Culture and Language Development of the Nurinsky District. The founder and first head of the sector was Adisha Konekbaykyzy Esmagambetova. Under her leadership, numerous material and spiritual treasures were collected, including historical data, photo documents, artifacts, and information about veterans of the Great Patriotic War and participants of the Afghan War. A research associate and collection curators worked in the sector.
Currently, the total area of the museum is 875 square meters. Its collection includes 3,452 items, of which 1,965 are in the main collection and 1,486 are in the auxiliary scientific collection.
Exhibition Halls of the Museum:
1. "Archaeology and Ethnography" Hall - This hall showcases artifacts that reflect ancient eras:
• Elements of material culture typical of nomadic peoples: traditional weapons and armaments ("er karuy - bes karu"), horse harnesses, jewelry, and decorative-applied art items;
• The interior of a traditional dwelling of Turkic nomads - the yurt;
• Samples of iron processing from the Early Iron Age;
• Information on archaeological and cultural monuments located in the district;
• Materials related to the district’s natural resources, flora, and fauna.
2. "Hall of Heroic Glory" - This hall is dedicated to the heroic legacy of the sons and daughters of the Nurinsky region:
• Participation of local residents in the Great Patriotic War, data on veterans and former prisoners of fascist camps;
• Information about Afghan War veterans and participants in the December 1986 events (Zheltoksan);
• Biographies and achievements of prominent individuals who contributed to the socio-economic development at the national, regional, and district levels, as well as exhibits titled "Pride of Nura."
3. "Grain" Hall - The Nurinsky District is known as one of the largest grain-producing regions in the area. This hall presents:
• Reforms and achievements in the district's agricultural sector;
• Directors of state farms during the Virgin Lands campaign;
• Information on the “Shubarkol Komir” coal mining complex and heads of public utilities;
• Biographies and work histories of maslikhat deputies and award holders.
• Main Functions and Public Activities of the Museum:
The museum operates as a modern cultural and educational center; Conducts historical and educational lessons, masterclasses, “Museum Lessons,” and “Open Days” for schoolchildren and youth; Engages in scientific and educational activities through the study of local history, promotion of prominent figures' legacies, and the collection of archival and expeditionary materials; Organizes festive and traditional events aimed at promoting national values.
The Nurinsky District Historical and Local History Museum plays an important role in systematically presenting the history of the region and in preserving and promoting national memory.
