Kordai District Literary and Memorial Museum of K. Azerbaev

The Kordai District Literary and Memorial Museum of Kenen Azirbayev was established in 1981 with the aim of studying and promoting the life and work of the Kazakh national poet, composer, and storyteller. The opening of the museum marked an important step in preserving the cultural heritage of the region and ensuring the continuity of generations.

The museum is housed in a two-story building with a total area of 596 square meters. Its exhibition is divided into four main sections:

1. Tourism Hall - showcases the district's tourism potential, natural landmarks, and sacred sites;

2. Hall of Ancient History and Ethnography - covers the archaeological and ethnographic heritage of the region from ancient times to the present;

3. District History Hall - tells the story of Kordai District’s administrative, socio-economic development, and political events;

4. Nature Hall - provides information about the region’s natural wealth, flora, and fauna.

The museum's collection includes 961 exhibits that reflect the poet’s life and creative legacy. Among them are Kenen Azirbayev’s dombra, crafted when he was just 13 years old; a silver belt gifted by Zhambyl during the memorial feast of the Kyrgyz manap Shabden; and a marble stone presented by the famous herdsman Zhazylbek Kuanyshbayev, brought from Mount Khantau. These artifacts offer a deeper understanding of the poet’s life and work.

The museum’s scholarly activities are focused on researching, preserving, and promoting Kenen Azirbayev’s heritage.
