Self-portrait

Description

Author: Zhuvaniyazov, Kuandyk. 1947-2007
A bust-length portrait of a middle-aged man with thick, dark curly hair and a moustache, depicted in a three-quarter view. He wears a dark sweater with an open collar, revealing the white collar of a shirt beneath. His gaze is directed toward the viewer, with a calm and focused expression. The execution is impasto, with the face modelled in soft chiaroscuro. The palette is restrained, built on a combination of warm flesh tones and the cool dark blue of the clothing.
