Kumis. Still Life

Description

Author: Ismailova, Gulfairus. 1929-2013
A still life that offers a profound cultural reinterpretation of a traditional genre. Set against an ornamental felt mat, a traditional kumis set filled with the white beverage serves as the central focal point, complemented by everyday nomadic utensils. The warm palette of ocher-brown, milky-white, and blue tones, alongside the textured paintwork, enhances the tactile quality of the objects. The work becomes a cultural text in its own right, where traditional items represent the Kazakh people’s spiritual heritage.
