An industrial landscape composition themed around the harvest season in the Virgin Lands. The entire foreground up to the center of the painting is occupied by a field of ripe golden wheat, the texture of whose ears is rendered with documentary precision; to the right and in the distance, combine harvesters move across the field, with a truck to the left-hallmarks of mechanized harvesting. The upper portion of the canvas is occupied by a cloudy sky that balances the mass of the field. The color palette is defined by the dominance of warm ochre-gold tones of the cornfield combined with cool blue and silvery-gray clouds. The panoramic composition with a high horizon, the subtle rendering of aerial perspective, and the meticulous, detailed painting style place the work within the tradition of the Soviet thematic landscape, poeticizing labor and the abundance of the transformed steppe.
