A cityscape painted from a high vantage point. The foreground features roofs with red and grey tiles receding into the distance, with pale towers rising between them. The middle ground is occupied by a strip of greenery, beyond which low, gentle slopes of purple-blue mountains stretch along the horizon; the upper part of the composition is filled with a bright, cloudy sky. Executed in oil with a free, study-like technique, the piece uses broad, generalized brushwork. The color scheme is built on a soft combination of warm ochre-red tones of the architecture and cool blue-purple hues of the mountains and sky.
