Still Life “Withered Flowers”

Description

Author: Leontiyev, Leonid. 1913-1983
A still life rendered in a free, expressive manner with a generalized treatment of form and a restrained, muted color scheme. In the center, by the window, a dark planter holds a fading plant with yellowed leaves and dark red blossoms resting on a table, its slender curved stems creating an expressive linear rhythm against the grey wall. Through the window on the left, tree trunks and green grass are visible, connecting the enclosed interior space with the outside world.
