Still Life with Apples

Description

Author: Leontiyev, Leonid. 1913-1983
A still life rendered in a free style using a segmented application of color. Arranged across the table in the lower foreground lie large apples, interspersed with dark plums; behind the fruit stands a green-striped carryall bag, serving as both a compositional backdrop and a vertical accent. The rich color scheme-built on the harmony of juicy yellow-green tones of the fruit, a greenish-gray background, and the deep burgundy accents of the plums-together with the vibrant, textured painterly style, conveys a sense of vivid spontaneity and the decorative unity of a domestic motif.
