Portrait of I. Itkind

Description

Author: Leontiyev, Leonid. 1913-1983
A bust-length portrait of an elderly man, rendered in a realistic style with soft, painterly modeling of form. Set against a neutral gray background, a gray-haired man with a small beard sits turned at a three-quarter angle to the left, directing his gaze toward the viewer. He is dressed in a black suit and a white shirt with a neck bow, holding a hat in his right hand. The restrained color scheme-built on the contrast between the figure’s dark silhouette, his illuminated face, and the gray backdrop-together with the gentle chiaroscuro modeling, draws focus to the subject’s face, lending the portrait a calm, noble expressiveness.
