Hall of “Glory”
Hall of Glory located in the city of Taraz, is one of the most significant cultural and historical institutions established to systematically collect, preserve, study, and present to the public the historical heritage of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the Great Patriotic War. This complex is recognized as a scientific and educational institution that promotes the ideas of patriotism, civic duty, historical memory, and intergenerational continuity.
The Hall of Glory is housed in a two-story building constructed in a modern architectural style. The total area of the building is 1,500 square meters. The interior is designed according to a historical-educational theme with a logical and compositional structure. Exhibition zones are organized based on chronological and thematic principles, which facilitates visitors’ understanding of historical materials from both temporal and content perspectives.
Currently, the Hall of Glory houses more than 1.5 million unique photographic materials taken during the years of the Great Patriotic War. It also showcases personal belongings of war veterans and Heroes of the Soviet Union, samples of military uniforms, combat orders and medals, types of field weapons, and household items. These exhibits are of great value as authentic sources reflecting military history.
An important structural part of the Hall is the research center dedicated to the People's Hero, military strategist, and writer Baurzhan Momyshuly. The center features an extensive presentation of his biography, military achievements, works on military tactics, and literary legacy. In addition, it includes works by contemporaries and researchers about B. Momyshuly, presented in a multimedia format, which contributes to a modern perception of this historical figure among the younger generation.
A section of the exhibition is devoted to labor on the home front - here, tools used by workers in the rear are displayed. These items vividly illustrate the people's selfless labor and invaluable support of the front during the war. Thus, the Hall of Glory covers not only frontline events but also the civilian contribution in the rear.
The Hall of Glory is a fundamental cultural institution that passes on to future generations the spiritual strength of the nation and its military legacy that led to the Great Victory. It plays an important role not only in preserving historical memory but also in fostering patriotism and raising awareness of the value of peace for future generations. Educational tours for schoolchildren and students, scientific conferences, meetings with veterans, and exhibitions are regularly held here.
