Khromtau District Historical and Local Lore Museum
The Historical and Local History Museum of the Khromtau District is one of the most significant cultural and scientific-educational institutions of the Aktobe Region. It serves as an important scientific and cultural center engaged in the systematic study, collection, preservation, and popularization of the region’s historical, archaeological, ethnographic, and natural-geographical features.

Over time, the museum's activities expanded considerably: research work was systematized, and its material and technical base was strengthened. In the 1990s, the institution officially received the status of a district historical and local history museum and was incorporated into the regional department of culture.
Today, the museum hosts several thematic exhibition halls. Its collections contain more than 4,000 historical and cultural artifacts. The museum’s main areas of work include local history research, the systematization of historical data, and its presentation to the general public. Museum staff develop scholarly articles, compilations, and catalogs, and actively participate in academic conferences and seminars at various levels. For schoolchildren and college students, the museum offers guided tours and interactive lessons. A youth club called "Young Local Historian" operates at the museum, aimed at involving students in research activities.
