Description
The exhibit is an educational and demonstration specimen of two newts belonging to the order of tailed amphibians (Caudata), 8-12 cm in length, secured in a cylindrical glass jar. One of the specimens, tied with thread to a white cardboard support plate inside the container, retains the morphological features of the dorsal and caudal fins (crest). Newts are amphibious creatures living both in water and on land, benefiting the ecosystem by feeding on small insects, and possessing a high capacity for regeneration.
