Description
Düre – a type of traditional whip used in Kazakh daily life. The düre consists of a long wooden handle and several braided leather straps. The handle and whip sections are secured with leather cords and decorated with ornamental braiding. The düre was primarily used for controlling horses and, in historical periods, was also used as a means of disciplinary punishment.
