Description

Ayil – an element of horse tack designed to securely hold the saddle in place on the horse’s back. It is a wide strap that wraps around the horse’s body underneath. The item is made of brown leather folded into two layers. A metal buckle is attached to one end. The metal components are decorated with ornamental patterns. One part of the buckle features a floral ornament, while another depicts six paired horn-shaped motifs. The decorative metal plate of the ayil is embellished with the traditional rams horns ornament. The item reflects the characteristic structural and decorative features of traditional Kazakh horse tack.
