Shield

Description

Handheld defensive weapon. This shield belongs to the kön-qalkan type (leather shield). It is crafted in a circular shape: leather is stretched over a specially prepared mold, and the surface is decorated with an embossed ornament. On the inner side, leather straps are attached, braided and arranged for fastening to the forearm and hand. In the center of the shield, a decorative tassel made of horse tail hair is fixed. The outer surface of the shield is coated with natural dye and treated with oil.
