Flat Iron

Description

This is an antique cast iron flat iron. This model was used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The iron is made entirely of cast iron, heavy in weight, with an arched handle also made of iron.
Its surface and edges feature embossed elements resembling decorative patterns, along with factory markings.To use it, the iron was preheated in a hearth, stove, or open fire before ironing clothes.Thanks to its heavy weight and hot surface, it effectively smoothed out fabric creases.
Its flat base with a pointed tip allowed for firm contact with the fabric. Because of its weight, little to no pressure was needed during ironing.The patterns and inscriptions on its surface indicate that it was factory-made.
