Millstone

Description

Lower millstone of a hand mill. Carved from natural stone. It is the main structural component of a hand mill used for grinding grain into flour. The central opening was fitted with a rotating mechanism, enabling the stone to operate together with the upper millstone during the grinding process. It is one of the traditional implements widely used in the daily household practices of the Kazakh people for processing cereal grains.
