Description
Author: Gorovykh, Anatoly. 1925-1996
In the foreground is a group of worker figures engaged in labor on the shore; on the right rises an oil-extraction installation. In the middle portion, a water surface spreads out in a broad band with the silhouettes of cranes and oil structures. The upper part of the canvas is occupied by a cloudy sky with dark storm clouds. The coloration is built on restrained cool grey-blue and ochre tones, among which the red accent of the derrick stands out. The plein-air spontaneity and coloristic structure align the work with the tradition of the industrial landscape.
