Description

This is a payment coin minted in Germany in 1938, from the period of Third Reich.
On the obverse, along the edge, there is the inscription: “PAUL VON HINDENBURG 1847-1934.” In the center, it features a right-facing profile portrait of Paul von Hindenburg.
On the reverse, at the top, there is the inscription “Deutsches Reich,” though part of it is missing due to damage (the coin has a chipped and pierced edge). In the center, an eagle with outstretched wings is depicted, perched above a wreath of leaves. Inside the wreath is a cross-like symbol associated with Germany, and to the right of it is the number “5,” indicating the denomination (likely 5 Reichspfennig or 5 Reichsmark).
The hole on the edge is not part of the original minting process; it was most likely made later, possibly to wear the coin as a pendant or for other practical use.
