Description
Kapsyrma is a silver ornament with intricate patterns, granulation, and precious stone inlays, featuring a lower hook that fastens the two front parts of women’s outer garments such as a kamzol, kazhikey, or vest. A hook is attached to the back side to secure both sides of the clothing. The word kapsyrma originates from the Kazakh word kausyru, meaning “to fasten” or “to clasp.” Kazakh jewelers crafted kapsyrmas to adorn women’s attire. The ornament is made of precious metals, decorated with engraving, granulation, and gemstones. The kapsyrma consists of two parts - a loop and a ring.
