Description
Wooden mortar and pestle - a traditional household tool used for processing grains. The mortar is cone-shaped, turned upside down, with a wooden stand attached to its narrow end. It is carved from a single solid piece of wood. At the narrowed part, a handle made of tin is attached with nails. The pestle is made from a cylindrical piece of wood, featuring a rectangular hole in the center and two carved handles on each side. The handles are polished smooth by the touch of thousands of hands.
Date: Late 19th - early 20th century.
